Beard & Shape Up

A beard and shape up is $25 and takes twenty to thirty minutes. It is a dedicated beard service without a haircut. We trim the beard down to your chosen length, then clean the cheek line and the neckline with a trimmer. No straight razor across the skin, so no razor burn risk. It is the fastest way to reset a beard between haircuts and it makes a bigger difference in the mirror than most guys expect.

What actually happens in the chair

  The consultation

  A minute on the length you want, whether you like a natural neckline or a sharp one, and whether the cheek line stays close to your natural growth or gets pushed a little lower. Bring a picture if you have one, but words work fine here.

  Comb out dry

  The beard gets combed out dry, never wet. Wet beard hair reads ten to fifteen percent longer than dry, and every over trimmed beard in history started with a barber trimming a wet beard to a length that looked right in the chair and looked wrong at home.

  Bulk length with the clipper

  Guard set one length longer than your target. Sideburns to jaw to chin to mustache, in sections, overlapping strokes against the grain. Then a check, then the guard drops to target if needed.

  Scissor over comb detailing

  Any hairs that stuck out of the clipper pass get caught with scissors over a comb. This is where the beard goes from trimmed to shaped.

  The cheek line

  Found by drawing an invisible line from the corner of the mouth to the middle of the ear. Anything above that line comes off with a trimmer. Some guys want it right at the natural growth, some want it a little lower, both are fine, we ask before we set it.

  The neckline and mustache

  Neckline set in a gentle U curve, two fingers above the Adam's apple, tapered toward the ears. Mustache tidied off the top lip. Splash of aftershave, comb through, done.

Anyone growing a beard between haircuts, anyone who likes their current hair but wants the beard reset, or anyone whose beard has drifted out of shape without them noticing. Twenty five dollars and half an hour, hard to beat that for a visible upgrade.

Guys with full even beards get the biggest visual return because the shape is what people notice. Guys with patchy beards benefit too, maybe more, because a tight perimeter makes patchiness less obvious. The eye reads shape first, density second, and a defined cheek line and clean neckline pull the eye to the outline instead of the gaps. Guys with short stubble beards use this service to keep the stubble even and the perimeter honest.
